ah, those are generally public domain stuff I stuck on my poetry back in the day because I'd get a few more comments. I have since realized that they are usually brainless. Plus, I don't have the energy anymore...

I definitely agree with you that manipulating things in a minor way and then calling them your own is silly. While writing this I was just struck by the similarity of photography and digital manipulation: both are using a machine to change the "form" of things that already exist and were usually created by someone else. How interesting to think about.
